pgvector stores embeddings in PostgreSQL and supports exact and approximate nearest-neighbor search (HNSW and IVFFlat) across multiple distance metrics. It lets teams keep vectors next to relational data with full ACID semantics, and underpins vector features in hosted Postgres platforms such as Supabase, Neon, and RDS.
